The Executive Committee member of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Raja Adeel Ashfaq, has urged the Federal Board of Revenue to set up a border security system to curb smuggling and stop raiding businesses. On Monday, he said, "It is unfortunate that, despite a clear direction by the government, the bureaucracy is creating an atmosphere of harassment for business people who are the backbone of the economy."

He also said the private sector was ready to supplement all government efforts aimed at revival of economic activities in the country if they were provided a breathing space, but "in the presence of such anti-business tactics, it would be very difficult for the private sector to continue with their businesses".
